Sustainable Development

We have made a commitment to protecting the health and safety of everybody who plays a part in our operations, lives in the communities in which we operate or uses our products. Wherever we operate, we conduct our business with integrity and care for both local and global environments.

Our commitment to sustainable development stems from our fundamental intent to thrive as an enterprise and to contribute to a better world. We conduct our business in a way that promotes economic growth, a healthy, sustainable environment and vibrant communities both now and for the future.

We believe it is important that businesses should step forward to help create an equitable, cost-effective approach to addressing global environmental issues. We have joined initiatives that support the development of a regulatory framework that addresses the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

We are also actively involved in examining ways of treating and using by-product water from oil production and refining operations. We have set up a new centre in Doha, Qatar that aims to develop more efficient and cost effective treatment of water, which could then be used for crop irrigation, livestock and wildlife habits.

Our focus has been on examining renewable energy sources from vegetable oil and soybean to produce renewable diesel fuel that meets European Union (EU) standards.
